ISSUE:
Evergreen Public School district is failing to provide students with the strong academic foundation they deserve. While the district boasts a high graduation rate (91.7%), too many students are falling short in English Language Arts, Math, and Science. A contributor to this decline has been the removal of school librarians, who are professionals whom play a vital role in helping children discover books that educate, engage, and spark a lifelong love of learning. Parents and community members are rightly frustrated and calling for change.
ISSUE:
Currently 61.8% of students are attending 90% or more of school days. Inconsistent attendance hinders student engagement and learning outcomes, which in turn affects academic performance.
ISSUE:
Teachers are increasingly overwhelmed as they try to meet the diverse academic and behavioral needs of their students. There are also grave concerns about classroom safety. This can lead to burnout and less effective learning environments, especially for students who are already struggling and need more individualized attention.
ISSUE:
There is a growing pattern among some students of engaging in disruptive behavior without facing meaningful consequences. This lack of accountability sends the wrong message, that poor behavior is tolerated. If this mindset continues, it risks shaping young people into adults who are unprepared for the real-world consequences that inevitably follow irresponsible actions.
ISSUE:
There is an increasing trend of biological males seeking to compete in girls’ sports and gain access to their locker rooms, compromising safety and fairness for our girls. This is not only unjust, it’s deeply disrespectful to the girls who have worked hard to earn their place in athletics and should not be tolerated in a just moral society.
